Dr. Sekar Raju iscurrently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of BiologicalSciences at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU, a Sino-UK internationalUniversity) in Suzhou, China. He is also the Director for the undergraduateprogramme in Biological Sciences at XJTLU. Dr. Raju graduated from University of Madras and did postdoctoralresearch at the University Duisburg-Essen (Germany), Max-Planck Institute forMarine Microbiology (Germany), Florida International University (USA) and TheUniversity of Sheffield (UK) in various Environmental Microbiology andMicrobial Ecology projects. He has published several papers in top rankingmicrobiology journals such as Applied and Environmental Microbiology and manyof his papers are well cited (with total citations of over 1500).
He received the German Academic Exchange service (DAAD) fellowship andMarie Curie Senior Fellowship for his postdoctoral research. He is a UniversityRecognized Teacher and PhD supervisor at the University of Liverpool. He is amember of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and Royal Society ofBiology (RSB, UK) and fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), UK.
